Zeynep Ece Tolun

Zeynep Ece Tolun is an Assistant Professor of Marketing in the Department of Business Administration at Middle East Technical University (METU). She received her bachelor's degree from Bilkent University, Department of Business Administration, in 2018. During her undergraduate studies, she spent one semester at SKEMA Business School in France.
Following her undergraduate education, she pursued her PhD in Marketing at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York, USA. Between 2019 and 2024, she worked as a research assistant at the same institution. Her doctoral dissertation examined how visual presentation features in financial graphs influence investor perceptions. She has presented her research at conferences organized by the Academy of Marketing Science and the Society for Consumer Psychology.
After completing her PhD, she served as a faculty member at Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania during the 2024–2025 academic year, where she taught courses on Principles of Marketing, Marketing Research, Digital Marketing, and Marketing Management. Her research interests include consumer behavior, behavioral economics, investor behavior, visual finance, judgment and decision-making, and cognitive biases. Her article published in the Journal of Marketing Communications focuses on the role of data visualization formats in shaping consumers' psychological evaluations and subjective judgments. In her free time, she enjoys running and gastronomy.
