Dr. Sarı is a professor of economics at METU and the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. He earned MA and PhD degrees in Economics from Texas Tech University. Dr. Sarı’s primary expertise is in energy economics and he focuses on energy justice, energy poverty, energy policy, social acceptance and economic growth in his studies. His research appeared in top energy and environmental journals including Energy Economics, Ecological Economics, Energy Policy, and Applied Energy. He has been recognized among the most influential and productive energy and/or ecological economists. His work is among the most cited papers in the energy economics literature. He is the co-editor of the Routledge Handbook of Energy Economics and also has written chapters in books by Springer and Edward Elgar. His research has been funded by the European Commission, British Academy and Turkish Government, through H2020, Newton Funding and TUBITAK programs. He is currently working on several projects, Nature4Cities being one of the major projects. He is also coordinating an international consortium for an H2020 project which aims to mitigate energy poor households in Europe. He also serves as an ad hoc referee in many leading journals.
